ICDL Zambia: new year new staff!

Dear friend,

The International Computer Driving Licence (or ICDL) is the world's No. 1 basic computer skills qualification with 9 million registrations worldwide. AfriConnect, the Internet Service Provider, is the approved In Country Partner for ICDL here in Zambia.

Some recent ICDL success stories in Zambia include:

TEACHER TRAINING : In January, twenty-five college lecturers from seven colleges of education took part in an ICDL ‘Boot Camp’, an initiative of Belgian development organization VVOB. The participants sat four exams within a week gaining their ICDL-START certificate. During 2010 the ICDL is expected to become established as a standard element of teacher training throughout Zambia.

NEW ICDL COUNTRY MANAGER : I shall be leaving Zambia at the end of February, and will be replaced by Shalala Oliver Sepiso, who has a strong track record promoting the benefits of ICT in Zambia. Shalala will be working with stakeholders in the government, education and corporate sectors to raise the profile of ICDL nationwide, and I wish him the very best of luck with this challenge. Shalala joins Jane Shoko (Training Consultant) and Akabana Kalaluka (Technical Coordinator).

PREPARING FOR E-LEARNING AFRICA : In the next newsletter we shall be announcing exciting developments concerning ICDL at tertiary level, and some projects to be showcased at the prestigious eLearning Africa Conference in May 2010.

To find out how to obtain or to offer the ICDL in Zambia please see our website www.icdl.org.zm or at any time you can text the word 'ICDL' to 888. If you have any queries about how to offer or to take the ICDL qualification in Zambia, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2010.
