Inutu Poniso Matundwelo is 26 years old and works as an Architectural drafts person at Sphinx Design and Associate Architects. She is enrolled on a distance education Civil Engineering programme at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and will be required to pass the ICDL examinations as part of the ‘end user computer practicals’ course.

“I chose to study with UNISA because it was the most convenient choice. I am able to have a job and study at the same time, as UNISA offers only correspondence programmes. It is very important that I have adequate computer knowledge in order for me to be effective in my job because all drawings are now done using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. Also since most architectural and engineering firms in Zambia are small, extra IT knowledge apart from CAD is important for the other administrative work to be done”.
